Short-Term Running Goals:

Half Marathon 1:40:00 or less-tempo ran a 1:44 WHAT IS THE LIMIT?

5k under 21:20

Long-Term Running Goals:

Another PR before I turn 60.

Continue running and avoid knee surgery.

Personal:

I got back into running in January 2007. Lost 35 pounds and keep trying to follow my high school track/cc son around. Soon found out that coaching was a better choice. Ran semi seriously in high school ( 4:30 ish mile), but had done no running in 29 years. I think I'm back and complain heavily when not allowed to run.

Take Shape for Life helped me lose 25 pounds after I had been a runner for a number of years and my half marathon time clearly reflected that.....I must add that I feel and look way more like a runner.

PM:  Did 8 miles in the park.  Legs were tired but all in not too bad.

Scheduled a 20 miler today but it did not work out.  Snow overnight left about 2-3 inches on the ground and snow showers came throughout the day.  Stoped after 13 for fuel and water and when I started up again I could not get warm.  I can clearly see the early signs of hypothermea and called it a day at 13.  Since that was only a regular day I will try the 20 miler again on Tues or Wed.

Last long run before marathon on May 1st.  Cold with light rain today but did not want to wait.  Too cold to stop for fuel and water so kinda ran out of gas at the end.  Average pace just under 9:00.  Decent run legs were sore though.

AM:  Did a 5.5 mile treadmill run ave. pace 8:57.

PM:  Did a park loop run of 5.6 miles at an ave pace of about 8:40.

Did a 2 mile warm up then did a short 3x1600 interval at a 7:30 pace.  Cooled down for 1.5 miles for a total of 7.5.  Legs are tired so did not push this one very hard but felt good to run.

Legs were very heavy today.  Warmup did not improve the situation. Kept to a recovery pace of around 9:20 managed  to almost make my 10 mile goal.

Ran down to the gym then did 6.75 easy treadmill miles.  Tired and not used to the alltitude.

Finally had time to run.  11.2 miles on fourth day back at altitude and the first day it felt OK.  Now I feel like I have half a chance at the marathon in 9 days time.
